Each participating school receives an image of a work of art from the Little Catalogue of the S.M.A.K. Collection as inspiration. Then you can all get to work with chalk to make your own interpretation of that work of art. Each school will receive an A2-sized photo print. This challenge is organised in the run-up to The Exhibition: Parts 1 and 2, which is made by and for children.
We will then share the photos via the S.M.A.K. website, Instagram and facebook.Share too and tag @smakgent, #smakisdichtbij and #lovesmak.
- Through this link you will find a selection of artworks from our collection to inspire you.
- Send an email to eline@smak.be.
- Give the date when you can make the drawing. This is also possible next school year until 15 October 2021.
- We will contact the person who will make the drone images.
- Please provide a contact person: name, phone number and e-mail address, school + address.
The Little Catalogue?
Against the current, S.M.A.K. first made a book in 2020 and an exhibition this year. From June 2021, the book will give rise to a collection exhibition made by and for children, without forgetting the adults.
Which 30 works will be shown this summer, how they will be shown and what you can experience with them as an assignment will be co-determined by children. The exhibition is about looking at and experiencing art and questions the usual museum operation. Children and young people experience art differently from adults. They look at the works of the collection with an open mind and challenge the visitor to experience them in their own way. You will - and that is the whole idea - go back home with more questions than answers.
From October 2021, The Exhibition Part 2 will follow. Then the whole of the first floor of S.M.A.K. will be taken up by a broad selection of the 150 works of art in the Little Catalogue of the S.M.A.K. Collection. As in Part 1, we will be collaborating extensively with children of different ages and backgrounds, this time with a special focus on the broad field of education.
