Mati Le Dee / Elke Andreas Boon: Album presentation

2.May.24
Mati Le Dee 2 1

With 'The Broken Heart of Mati Le Dee', visual artist and musician Elke Andreas Boon releases a personal, emancipatory album under his musical pseudonym Mati Le Dee.

The Broken Heart of Mati Le Dee is a story of love, loss and insight. A comforting manifesto of rebellious beauty and hope, characteristic of Boon's entire oeuvre.

For Boon, music, visual work and performance are one entity that radically coincides with life itself.

The Broken Heart of Mati Le Dee is the a-gender artist's fifth music album and first solo project. It contains 11 quirky, musically stripped-down and balanced songs, carried by Mati Le Dee's strong voice, which veer back and forth between sombre indie in the style of Perfume Genius, austere chamber pop and theatricality à la Dresden Dolls.

Like kindred artists Joanna Newson, Tori Amos or My Brightest Diamond, Mati Le Dee leads the music with equal parts intimacy and aggression, setting a true poetry.

Previously released music albums: 'Songs for Johnny', 'We go round' and the EP 'On tour and around' with the band Mary&Me and 'Biometrical Love' and 'Heartbeat' with the band G A U S S.

With Anthe Huybrechts (piano), Noreen Broeckhove (viola), Joshua Dellaert (double bass), Eline Duerinck (cello) and Anna Buevich (violin) and Mati Le Dee (voice). Frederik Segers produced and mixed the album together with Elke Andreas Boon.
