On the occasion of the launch of the second volume of UpClose, the new publication series focused on key works from the S.M.A.K. collection, art critic and curator Pieter Van Bogaert will give a lecture on this work. Two weeks before the lecture and on the day itself, you can watch the film for free at S.M.A.K.

In 'Why Are You Angry?', Rosalind Nashashibi and Lucy Skaer examine how French artist Paul Gauguin depicted Polynesian women. They followed in Gauguin’s footsteps to Tahiti to create images of women and re-enact several of his famous paintings. The film thus offers a commentary on Gauguin's colonial, male gaze.
