After two editions at Pukkelpop, Art United, by and for young people, is coming to the festival grounds in Antwerp.

The art project Art United was ready to set up shop on the Pukkelpop festival field for a third time, but the coronation measures made a change. Thanks to the organisers of Fire is Gold, the unexpected but very welcome opportunity arose to bring art to young people on the Middenweide of Antwerp Left Bank.

Art United wants to contribute to the experience of art by young people in a place where young people gather en masse to discover it: the festival. With performances, installations and workshops, Art United introduces itself as an offshoot of The Street, the experience zone of Fire is Gold.

Why art on a festival site? Despite the efforts of museums to attract young audiences, the challenge remains to reach 16 to 20 year olds. In 2018, eight museums decided to take up the 'challenge' and, together with various cultural and youth organisations, launched the Art United project. After two successful editions at Pukkelpop, festivals appear to be a very suitable environment to reach a young audience with art.

Art United is a collaboration of M HKA, Fomu, Modemuseum Hasselt, Z33, MSK, M Leuven, MuZee, S.M.A.K., Formaat, Amusee Vous, UIT X, Faro, Cudos, Fontys.
