S.M.A.K. organised a series of workshops with OKAN students from Ghent in collaboration with the Ghent Education Centre and LUCA School of Arts Campus Ghent.

OKAN stands for reception education for foreign-language children between the ages of 12 and 18. Reception education enables children to learn Dutch as quickly as possible.

LUCA students are encouraged to participate in projects outside their own artistic practice. After an introductory workshop at the school, the pupils and students visited the exhibition “Highlights For A Future, The Collection (1)” together with guide Juanan Soria. The following week, the LUCA students organised a closing workshop at the school.

In the end, six schools participated in the project. New programmes will take place this spring.

Participating schools: Emmaüs Aalter – OP WEG secondary school, Hoger Technisch Instituut Sint-Antonius Ghent, KTA GITO Groenkouter Ghent, OKAN Toren van Babel Ghent, Provinciale Middenschool Ghent.
