'Splendid Isolation' was the title of an exhibition at S.M.A.K. in 2022, but that is not how we look at the museum. Last year - with global and local shocks - we showed again that the house is in the world. S.M.A.K. seeks to be a place of conversation and encounter, of doubt and vulnerability, made by and for people.
In the museum's caravan, the artist leads the way. As a guide who makes us look at the world, art and ourselves differently. The museum's task in the future is to be even better in the world, to open the windows even more and ensure that we can be a refuge for free thoughts as well as a home. The S.M.A.K. team thanks every visitor who found refuge in our house over the past year. We wish everyone a 2023 full of courage, imagination and dreams in these fragile times.
