Completion-Emptiness

NL – ‘Completion-Emptiness’ maakt deel uit van een reeks tafelsculpturen die Van Isacker doorheen zijn artistieke praktijk ontwikkelt en waarvan enkele zich in de publieke ruimte bevinden. ‘Completion-Emptiness’ bestaat uit twee minimalistisch ogende tafels. In het midden van elke tafel bevindt zich een gegraveerd woord: “completion” (voltooiing) op de eerste en “emptiness” (leegheid) op de tweede. Van Isacker ziet de tafel als “iets zeer levendigs, iets waar je van alles kunt aan doen”. De tafel, als plek om te eten, te drinken of te praten, symboliseert een ontmoeting. ‘Completion-Emptiness’ is een uitnodiging om na te denken, om te communiceren of om dingen in vraag te stellen. De woorden “completion” en “emptiness” dienen als basis voor deze reflectie.

ENG – ‘Completion-Emptiness’ is part of a series of sculptures in the form of tables, which Van Isacker has developed throughout his artistic practice. Several such works can be found in the public domain. ‘Completion-Emptiness’ consists of two minimalistic-looking tables. In the middle of each is an engraved word: “completion” on the first and “emptiness” on the second. Van Isacker sees the table as ‘something very lively, something on which you can do all manner of things.’ The table, as a place for eating, drinking or talking, symbolises an encounter. ‘Completion-Emptiness’ is an invitation to consider, to communicate, or to call things into question.
