NL – Oswald Oberhuber maakte ‘Drahtskulptur’ kort na zijn opleiding beeldhouwkunst bij Ernst Barlach, Fritz Wotruba en Willi Baumeister. Het werk dateert uit het jaar waarin Oberhuber voor het eerst tentoonstelde. De jonge kunstenaar was sterk onder de indruk van de Franse informele kunst. De aanhangers van deze vernieuwingsbeweging, die overwegend in de schilderkunst tot uiting kwam, focusten met hun lyrisch abstracte werken op het ontbinden en ontleden van vormen. Ze waren ook bewust op zoek naar spontaniteit bij het scheppingsproces. Oberhuber veroverde zijn plaats binnen de informele kunst door de principes ervan toe te passen op de beeldhouwkunst. Met zijn intuïtieve gebruik van weinig stabiele en voor kunstwerken ongebruikelijke materialen vormt ‘Drahtskulptur’ daar een mooi voorbeeld van.
ENG – Oswald Oberhuber created ‘Drahtskulptur’ shortly after studying sculpture under Ernst Barlach, Fritz Wotruba and Willi Baumeister. The work dates from the year in which Oberhuber first started exhibiting. The young artist had been strongly influenced by the French ‘Art Informel’. With their lyrical, abstract works, adherents of this innovative movement, which predominately found its expression in painting, focused on the decomposition and dissection of shapes. They were also consciously searching for spontaneity in the creative process. Oberhuber polished his ‘Art Informel’ credentials by applying its principles to sculpture. With its intuitive use of unstable materials that are rarely employed in artworks, ‘Drahtskulptur’ is a good example of this approach.
FR - Oswald Oberhuber réalisa ‘Drahtskulptur’ peu de temps après avoir suivi une formation de sculpteur auprès d’Ernst Barlach, de Fritz Wotruba et de Willi Baumeister. L’oeuvre date de l’année où Oberhuber exposa pour la première fois. Le jeune artiste était très impressionné par l’art informel en France. Les adeptes de ce mouvement innovateur, qui s’exprimait principalement dans la peinture avec des oeuvres abstraites et lyriques, se concentrait sur la dislocation et l’analyse des formes. Ils recherchaient aussi volontairement la spontanéité dans le processus de création. Oberhuber conquit sa place au sein de l’art informel en appliquant ses principes à la sculpture. ‘Drahtskulptur’ en est un bel exemple, par l’utilisation intuitive de matériaux peu stables et inhabituels pour des oeuvres d’art.
