NL – Maud B. is een kunstverzamelaar. Ze bezit onder meer twee abstracte zeefdrukken van Agnes Martin, een van de favoriete kunstenaars van Manon de Boer. De werken zitten achter glas en hangen in haar appartement dichtbij een raam. Voor een van de tekeningen plaatste de Boer een 16mm camera met het diafragma ingesteld op een gemiddelde lichtwaarde. Ze vroeg Maud B. om de camera aan te zetten telkens wanneer ze tijd nam om het lichtspel op het werk te bekijken. De kleur- en lichtverschillen in de film zijn het gevolg van de ongewijzigde camera-instelling en het verstrijken van de tijd. De Boer gebruikt het kunstwerk van Martin als een projectievlak waarop de reële ruimte voor het werk wordt weerspiegeld. Zo ontstaat bovenop Martins rationele, minimalistische tekening een nieuwe, bewegende tekening die een persoonlijk verhaal schetst.
ENG – Maud B. is an art collector. Among other things she owns two abstract silkscreen prints by Agnes Martin, one of Manon de Boer’s favourite artists. The works are behind glass and hang near a window in her flat. De Boer set up a 16mm camera in front of one of the drawings, with the diaphragm set to the average light value. She asked Maud B. to start the camera whenever she took the time to look at how the light played on the print. The differences in colour and light in the film are the consequences of the unchanged setting of the camera and the passing of time. De Boer uses Martin’s work of art as a projection plane in which the real space in front of the work is reflected. This, on top of Martin’s rational, minimalist drawing, gives rise to a new, moving drawing that sketches a personal story.
FR – Maud B. est une collectionneuse d’art. Elle possède notamment deux sérigraphies abstraites d’Agnes Martin, une des artistes favorites de Manon de Boer. Les oeuvres sont protégées par un verre et sont accrochées dans son appartement à proximité d’une fenêtre. De Boer a placé une caméra 16mm devant un des dessins, le diaphragme étant réglé sur une luminosité moyenne. Elle a demandé à Maud B. de brancher la caméra chaque fois qu’elle prenait le temps de regarder le jeu de la lumière sur l’oeuvre. Les nuances de couleur et de lumière du film sont la conséquence du réglage inchangé de la caméra et du temps qui passe. De Boer utilise l’oeuvre d’art de Martin comme une surface de projection qui reflète l’espace réel devant l’oeuvre. Ce qui ajoute au dessin rationnel et minimaliste de Martin un nouveau dessin en mouvement qui ébauche un récit personnel.
