NL – Vanuit een ruim interesseveld injecteert Jan Van Imschoot de meest uiteenlopende thema's in zijn gelaagde oeuvre. In ‘Colorations Anormales’ verbeeldt de kunstenaar lichaamsdelen die door allerlei huidziektes zijn getroffen. Bij elk schilderij staan ook de medische benamingen van de aandoeningen beschreven, maar in feite zijn het ziektes die enkel bestaan binnen Van Imschoots werk. Met virtuoze penseelstreken legt hij in de kwetsuren een zekere schoonheid waardoor ze bijna aantrekkelijk worden. Hiermee verwijst Van Imschoot naar de toenemende ziektebeelden en angststoornissen die symptomatisch zijn voor onze huidige maatschappij.
ENG – Jan Van Imschoot has a wide range of interests, from which he injects the most varied subjects into his layered oeuvre. In ‘Colorations Anormales’ he depicts parts of the body that have been affected by all sorts of skin diseases. The medical names of the disorders are also written in each of the paintings, but in fact they exist only in Van Imschoot’s work. With his virtuoso brushwork he introduces a certain beauty into the wounds so that they become almost attractive. This is a reference to the increasing number of syndromes and anxiety disorders that are symptomatic of our society.
FR – Evoluant dans un champ d’intérêts très vaste, Jan Van Imschoot injecte les thèmes les plus divers à son œuvre en strates. Il imagine dans ‘Colorations Anormales’ des parties du corps touchées par toutes sortes de maladies de la peau. Chaque tableau est accompagné des noms médicaux des affections, mais ce sont en fait des maladies qui n’existent que dans l’œuvre de Van Imschoot. D’un train de pinceau virtuose, il confère aux blessures une certaine beauté qui les rend presque séduisantes. Van Imschoot fait ici référence à la surenchère de listes de maladies et de troubles anxieux qui caractérisent la société actuelle.
