NL - Installaties en sculpturen zijn voor de kunstenaar een middel om zijn persoonlijke of soms erg abstracte gedachten en gevoelens uit te drukken door ze letterlijk ‘vorm’ te geven. ‘Landscape with Colours’ (1997) is als een universeel, zeer esthetisch stilleven dat schommelt tussen schilderkunst en sculptuur. Dit desolate ‘landschap’ is in deze mate gestileerd dat het zich overal en nergens zou kunnen bevinden. De lichtblauwe, uitdeinende hemel creëert een illusie van oneindige ruimte, die meteen wordt ingeperkt door de materialiteit van het geheel. De constructie is letterlijk een decor, een uitsnede uit de wereld die om het even waar en in om het even welke tijd zou kunnen worden geplaatst.
ENG - For the artist, installations and sculptures are a means of expressing his personal, or sometimes highly abstract thoughts and feelings, by literally giving ‘shape’ to them. ‘Landscape with Colours’ (1997) is akin to a universal, highly aesthetic still life that hovers between painting and sculpture. This desolate ‘landscape’ is distilled to such an extent that it could be anywhere and nowhere. The pale blue, wide-open sky creates an illusion of endless space, which is immediately curtailed by the materiality of the overall piece. The construction is literally a backdrop, a cut-out of the world that could be situated in any place and in any time.
FR - Les installations et les sculptures sont pour l’artiste un moyen d’exprimer ses pensées et ses sentiments personnels ou parfois très abstraits en leur donnant littéralement une ‘forme’. ‘Landscape with Colours’ (1997) est comme une nature morte universelle, très esthétique qui oscille entre la peinture et la sculpture. Ce ‘paysage’ désolé est stylisé de manière telle qu’il pourrait se situer partout et nulle part. Le ciel bleu clair, évanescent crée une illusion d’espace infini, qui est d’emblée limité par la matérialité de l’ensemble. La construction est littéralement un décor, une découpe du monde qui pourrait être disposée n’importe où et à n’importe quelle période.
