Scultura per purificare le parole

NL – ‘Scultura per purificare le parole’ neemt de ruimte op een indringende manier in. De puntige vorm en de manifeste lijnwerking maken het niet eenvoudig om als kijker fysiek positie ten opzichte van het werk te kiezen. De sculptuur bestaat uit twee koperen staven en een bolvormige glazen flacon met ‘mondstuk’, gevuld met een mengsel van fosfor en alcohol. Men zou in het mondstuk kunnen spreken. Worden woorden die via het mondstuk doorheen de sculptuur worden gestuurd gezuiverd? De titel van dit werk betekent: ‘Sculptuur om het woord te zuiveren’. Zorio creëerde een poëtisch object waarin taal een zuivere(nde) relatie met de werkelijkheid aangaat. De puntige constructie met haar scherpe uitsteeksels suggereert het onderliggende gevaar dat de utopie van het zuiveren van taal met zich mee kan brengen.

Its angular shape and overt linearity means it is not simple for the viewer to choose a physical position in relation to this work. The sculpture consists of two copper rods and a curved glass vessel with a ‘mouthpiece’, the latter of which is filled with a mixture of phosphorus and alcohol. We might speak into the mouthpiece. Do words that pass through the sculpture via the mouthpiece emerge purified? The title of the work means ‘Sculpture to purify the word’. Zorio created a poetic object in which language enters into a pure and purifying relationship with reality. The pointed construction with its sharp protrusions suggests the underlying danger that can accompany the utopia of purifying language.

FR - ‘Scultura per purificare le parole’ occupe l’espace d’une manière envahissante. La forme pointue et le jeu manifeste des lignes ne permettent pas au spectateur de choisir une position physique aisée par rapport à l’œuvre. La sculpture se compose de deux barres en cuivre et d’un flacon sphérique en verre muni d’un ‘embout’, rempli d’un mélange de phosphore et d’alcool. On pourrait parler dans l’embout. Les mots envoyés dans la sculpture par l’embout sont-ils épurés? Le titre de cette œuvre signifie: ‘Sculpture pour purifier la parole’. Zorio a créé un objet poétique où le langage entretient une relation pure (purifiante) avec la réalité. La construction pointue avec ses protubérances effilées suggère le danger sous-jacent que peut entraîner l’utopie d’un langage épuré.
