NL – Jorge Pardo tast voorzichtig de dunne lijn af tussen kunst en design en vormt met zijn werk de museumzalen eerder om tot een bemeubelde kamer dan tot een ruimte met installatiekunst. Met voorwerpen uit zijn dagelijkse omgeving creëert hij een eigenzinnig, beeldend universum, dat zich harmonisch probeert te nestelen binnen het institutionele kader van het museum. Enerzijds contrasteren de kleurrijke, katoenen kussens van ‘Untitled (beige-grey-orange-yellow-petroleum blue teal)’ sterk met het koele decor, anderzijds reiken ze ons een comfortabele, behaaglijke rustplaats aan.

ENG – Jorge Pardo cautiously probes the thin line between art and design and in his work transforms the museum accommodation into a furnished room rather than a place for installation art. With objects from his everyday surroundings he creates a highly individual visual world that tries to establish itself harmoniously in the institutional framework of the museum. On the one hand the colourful cotton cushions in ‘Untitled (beige-grey-orange-yellow-petroleum blue teal)’ contrast sharply with the cool setting, and on the other they provide us with a pleasant and comfortable place of rest.

FR – Jorge Pardo explore prudemment la ligne étroite entre art et design et transforme avec ses œuvres les salles de musée en chambre meublée plutôt qu’en espace avec une installation artistique. À l’aide d’objets de son quotidien, il crée un univers plastique singulier qui tente de se nicher harmonieusement dans le cadre institutionnel du musée. Les coussins en coton de couleurs de ‘Untitled (beige-grey-orange-yellow-petroleum blue teal)’ sont en net contraste avec la froideur du décor et nous offrent un espace de repos confortable et douillet.
