Zonder titel

NL – De binnenruimte van deze kubus – opnieuw een ‘ruimte binnen een ruimte’ – werd met bordverf volledig zwart geschilderd. In het midden hangt een gloeilamp, die de ruimte oogverblindend verlicht. Een doos met wit krijt nodigt ons uit om boodschappen op de wanden te schrijven. ‘Zonder titel’ bestaat enkel met en door onze deelname. Door onze inbreng verandert de zwarte ruimte namelijk langzaam in een 'white cube’ of archetypische witte tentoonstellingsruimte. ‘Zonder titel’ werd in 2001 voor het eerst gepresenteerd in de Marie-Puck Broodthaers Gallery in Brussel. Het werk werd onder meer ook opgesteld op de 25ste Biënnale van São Paolo in 2002.

ENG – The internal space of this cube – once again a ‘space within a space’ – was painted entirely black using chalkboard paint. A light bulb hangs in the middle, illuminating the space with a blinding light. A box of white chalk invites us to write messages on the walls. 'Zonder titel' exists solely as the result of our participation. Due to our input the black space is slowly transformed into a 'white cube' or the archetypal white exhibition space. ‘Untitled’ was exhibited for the first time in 2001 in the Marie-Puck Broodthaers Gallery in Brussels. The work was also exhibited at the 25th São Paolo Biennial in 2002.

FR - L’espace intérieur de ce cube – à nouveau un ‘espace dans un espace’ – a été entièrement peint en noir avec de la peinture pour bordures. Une ampoule accrochée au centre éclaire l’espace de manière aveuglante. Une boîte de craies blanches nous invite à écrire des messages sur les murs. ‘Sans titre’ n’existe qu’avec et par notre participation. En effet, notre contribution modifie progressivement l’espace noir en un ‘white cube’ ou un espace d’exposition archétypique blanc. ‘Sans titre’ fut présenté pour la première fois dans la Marie-Puck Broodthaers Gallery de Bruxelles. L’oeuvre fut exposée notamment à la 25ème Biennale de São Paolo en 2002.
