NL - Sol LeWitt ontwierp zijn bekende ‘Wall Drawings’ vanaf 1968. Het zijn meestal geometrische muurtekeningen. Ze worden volgens heldere en strikte instructies uitgevoerd en dit niet noodzakelijk door de kunstenaar zelf. Bij elke muurtekening hoort een certificaat en een diagram, waarin Sol LeWitt de parameters omschrijft waarbinnen het werk moet worden gerealiseerd. Elke uitvoering volgens zijn richtlijnen geldt voor de kunstenaar als een origineel werk. ‘Wall Drawing #36 On one wall, intersecting symmetrical bands of parallel lines 36” (90 cm) wide, in four directions and colors’, waarvan S.M.A.K. het certificaat in zijn collectie heeft, werd in 2015 in het museum gerealiseerd in samenwerking met externe tekenaars. De schaal overtrof alle uitvoeringen van Sol LeWitts muurtekeningen tot nu.

ENG - Sol LeWitt started designing his well-known ‘Wall Drawings’ in 1968. Most of them are geometrical mural drawings. They are carried out in accordance with clear and strict instructions, but not necessarily by the artist himself. For each wall drawing there is a certificate and a diagram in which Sol LeWitt sets out the parameters on which basis the work is to be carried out. As far as the artist is concerned, any execution of the work in accordance with his guidelines counts as an original work. ‘Wall Drawing #36 On one wall, intersecting symmetrical bands of parallel lines 36” (90 cm) wide, in four directions and colors’, of which S.M.A.K. holds the certificate in its collection, was realised in the museum in 2015 in collaboration with external draughtsmen. The scale surpassed all executions of Sol LeWitt's wall drawings to date.

Ils sont exécutés selon des instructions claires et strictes et pas nécessairement par l’artiste même.
