Trio

NL – In ‘Trio’ zijn drie figuren ruggelings aan elkaar vastgebonden. Ze hebben onderling fysiek contact maar kunnen elkaar niet zien. Hun armen zitten in hun gewaden vast als in een dwangbuis. Als zwaarden zijn hun attributen in hun gordel vastgemaakt: een penseel, een potlood en een schroevendraaier. Maar ze kunnen hun wapens onmogelijk trekken. Vandaar wellicht hun getormenteerde blik. De sculptuur stelt een schilder, een tekenaar en een beeldhouwer voor. Het zou een zelfportret van de veelzijdige Schütte kunnen zijn.

ENG – In ‘Trio’ three figures are tied back to back. They are in physical contact but cannot see each other. Their arms are held tight in their robes as if in a straitjacket. Their implements are stuck in their belts like swords: a paintbrush, a pencil and a screwdriver. But it is impossible for them to draw their weapons, which probably explains their tormented look. The sculpture represents a painter, a drawer and a sculptor. It could easily be a self-portrait of the versatile Schütte.

FR – Dans ‘Trio’, trois personnages sont attachés dos à dos. Ils sont en contact physique mais ne peuvent pas se voir. Leurs bras sont entravés dans leurs vêtements comme dans une camisole de force. Leurs attributs sont fichés à la ceinture de leurs habits comme des sabres: un pinceau, un crayon et un tournevis. Mais les figures n’ont pas accès à leurs armes, ce qui explique peut-être leur regard tourmenté. La sculpture représente un peintre, un dessinateur et un sculpteur. Ce pourrait être un autoportrait de Schütte.
